Goot: A Powerful Home Remedy to Fight Sickness and Infections

By Lindsay Wilson, D.C.

GOOT stands for Garlic Oil Ointment Treatment. Garlic is anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory and is one of the best medicinal foods out there! I use GOOT all the time in my house. It’s great to use for respiratory infections, cuts, scrapes, cold sores, and almost any kind of infection.  I have been using GOOT since my first son was a baby. The first time I tried it, my son had a terrible cough that was lingering for over a week. I applied it to his chest and the bottom of his feet each day, and within a couple of days, it was gone. Now we use it every time someone gets a cough or gets sick.

GOOT works by getting absorbed through the skin and into the bloodstream. You can apply GOOT to the neck, chest, bottom of feet, or throat for best results. Always test a patch of your skin to ensure there’s no irritation before putting it on more areas.

This is made with three ingredients and is really easy to make. Put it in the fridge to keep on hand. Take it out of the fridge to soften it for use. It will keep in the fridge for a month or two.

Ingredients:

  • 3 Tablespoons freshly chopped garlic
  • 3 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 Tablespoons coconut oil

Recipe:

Warm 3 Tbsp coconut oil on the stove until melted, then add 3 Tbsp olive oil and remove from heat. Add 3 Tbsp chopped garlic and blend in a blender for 2 minutes. Strain out the garlic put the remaining oil in a wide-mouth jar or container, and store in the fridge. Don’t forget to label it GOOT.

Apply to your neck, chest, the bottom of feet, and throat.

Pro tip: Use at night due to the potent smell. You will smell like a garlic knot!
