Did you know Chiropractic is the 3rd largest healthcare profession in the world, behind conventional medicine and dentistry?
Chiropractors are experts in detecting areas of nerve irritation throughout your body. Chiropractors are concerned with the framework of bones and muscles that support the body known as the musculoskeletal system. When there is a problem in the neuro-musculoskeletal system, a misalignment in the spine may occur which can cause pressure on the nerves in our bodies. An impaired nervous system results in dysfunction. This is where the disease process begins. Some problems of the musculoskeletal system can be caused by accidents, stress, lack of exercise, poor posture, illness and everyday wear and tear. A chiropractor will use a variety of therapeutic adjustment techniques to put the body back into proper alignment.
At Heartland Wellness Center, we provide chiropractic care for patients of all ages and life stages who present a range of acute and chronic conditions. As well as advice about self-help, exercise, diet and lifestyle, our chiropractors often provide support for pain management, sports injuries and active rehabilitation.
What should I expect at a chiropractic appointment?
1. Meet & Greet: We start by meeting with you and learning a detailed history.
2. Evaluation: You will then go through a complete neuromuscular evaluation. Our treatment focuses on removing irritation from the nervous system. The bones of the spine house and protect your spinal cord, which is an extension of your brain. The spinal cord carries information from your brain to body and back to the brain again. Misalignments in the spine and other joints, called subluxations, create nerve interference.
3. Treatment: One of our chiropractors will work with your body to remove the nerve irritation and restore proper alignment and function. We do this primarily through the use of specific Chiropractic adjustments. A chiropractic adjustment is a gentle, quick, placement done by hand to the areas in the spine that are restricted. By adjusting the restricted joint, mobility is restored and the irritation to the nerve is removed helping to reduce your pain and muscle tightness.
4. Follow up: Prior to leaving the clinic, your chiropractor will give you advice on what you can be doing at home to help yourself get better as quickly as possible and exactly what you can do to stop your problem returning in the future.
